Greenscreen m2t

Hi guys and gals,

By request, here is a greenscreen shot in HDV 720p30. Sorry the exposure is a tick low. Still you can get the idea. This is HDV from tape and not captured out of the components as you normally would in a studio scenario (to get 422 colorspace). "Teddybear" hope you get something out of this.

HD-100 greenscreen shot courtesy WYIN (PBS affiliate Merrillville, IN). Thanks Chuck Heaver and the guys and gals at the station, PBS is great.

Weatherman m2t (82MB)

Weatherman Chromakeyed wmv (23MB)

using Commotion's greenscreen keyer in Liquid and the spill killer EZ commotion plug. I just laid the filters on the clip and did nothing else (no tweaks). I'm sure the chromakey guru's can do a better job than me!

all the best and keep shooting!

Stephen your link is broken, thanks for all your good work with the hd100, I'm really tossing it up with the hvx, obvious strengths being shoulder mount and interchangable lenses. Though I think with both, I 'd like to see an actual feature to decide, that 5min one for the hvx was unfortunately not dialed in correctly and lit correctly and the footage did nothing at all, and then I see some of Holyzoo's stuff and the wolf footage and I'm back in hvx land, there must be a large crowd out there swinging between the two cams.
I'd love to see that documentary shot recently by Andrew Young, is this only going to be like a national geographic cable thing? And I think was it n8ature that shot the wolf footage, if that evolved into a full documentary, then that would be outstanding as well. Anyway, i'll stop ranting now, i was only going to say the link is broken...................:)

Thanks Stephen, good to see the cam and codec hold up to chroma keying, you hear so much about needing better colour space etc in order to pull it off. Mind you, to get the level of movie standards, i imagine you need serious hardware and software. Cheers

Stephen- We use Ultra 2 for keying one of our shows. I've heard both good and bad remarksm miostly from "the new kids on the block" vs. the old established guard who hand render everything. Have you used Ultra and IYO, how does it compare to Comotion and Killer? I'm moderately happy with the results in Ultra but I'm not jumping off the couch and that's what I owe in this show. There's a solid 9 minutes of screen in the 47 min. show.

Thanks Stephen. Once again, I'm quite impressed with the JVC. That camera is a screamin' deal! I love my H1, but really dig the look of the JVC. I probably would've bought it if it had either 1080i or 60p to tape. Definitely a great filmmaking tool, hands down!

I am definately NOT the person to ask about chromakey. I use Liquid's built in keyers (Commotion, RT YUV & RGB), and Boris Red. Boris' keyer is the easiest to use and the best one overall that I own. When I have to put together anything that involves keying (like a 30 second spot), I do the entire project in Boris Red. If I ever need anything like that directly on a Liquid timeline I use the Commotion keyer or RT YUV filter built into Liquid.

I've heard about and seen excellent results with the Serious Magic product and have considered buying it once or twice. There was someone who keyed using a vector product and I can't remember the name of it.

Isn't it though? It's a real treat.

There's a couple of things I'd like off the H1 as well, like the 20 preset's on the SD card. The HD-100 could use a nice convenience like that!

Stephenlnoe,
Great Work, I noticed you are using Liquid for this job, could u share more thoughts & info on NLE, I mean for JVC 100/101, two 101e will be with us later this month...currently we have FCP504 & there was no real work around for 720/25 & 720/24, I notice in FCP5 only720/30p will work and serious TC issue in batch mode(via Firewire), our camerman will have to roll for another 5~10 second before & after so I can achieve the batch capture in post. I know that's the price of evolution... again I don't mind to wait or even changing our NLE as long as those NLE will work happy with 100/101...
Cheers/Daryl

You said it Stephen...

Right now, that's my only (besides the hated battery) beef w/ the JVC so far...
