Greenscreen Goodness

So the people who pay the bills in my house are out of town...
And we're doing some remodelling anyhow...
So long story short, there's this wall that's just so blank and lonely...
and in our tool shed, there's this paint bucket that's begging to be finished up and sent where all praying paintbuckets go when they die...
And these bill paying absent people have left me with the charge of teaching their younger children everything I know...
So I teach my lil bro and sis "videography" Three times a week for 6 hours at a time...(whew...)

Anyway, we do a lot of fun stuff...(working on Young's set for a weekend was a blast for them). And today we experimented with Key effects...here's a quick little clip based entirely on Peter's whim.

just regular old green paint, some careful lighting, and good old FCP.
Enjoy.

LOL

Is that background chroma'd in? At first I thought lightsabres were going to come busting out but then realized what I was looking at. That was awesome. Look so damn natural.

That is so cool you are spedning time and teaching these children cool things; who knows maybe inspiring a filmmaker.

Tks for sharing!

Ive thought lately of building a lil space cockpit in my garage and doing some space stuff.

Re: Greenscreen Goodness

lol. It's no worse than having to buy pantyhose to make a pop filter for a mic! Oh, the social sacrifices!

Re: Greenscreen Goodness

What up Exman? :D

Dakota; this weeknd I am building a dolly (with help). I'm stoked.

Re: Greenscreen Goodness

That was REALLY well done Hillcity. It was fun, clever, and the keying was clean.

You can tell the difference between talented people and hacks, simply by what they put together while just fooling around and having fun. Basically, hacks don't have fun. Hacks only use their equipment when they're working. They have no passion for the art. Hacks just want to make money through their DVX investment.

You've got REAL talent and this little flic you made, just goofing around, shows your talent and your passion. Maybe more so than a big budget feature would do. Seriously.

Re: Greenscreen Goodness

How did you get such a clean key with all that fast movement? What software did you use?

Re: Greenscreen Goodness

that's creepy. Maybe I replied to this post in my dream...or maybe it was axed for some reason. Anyhow, thanks for all the compliments. I'll let the kids know that they're famous!

Right about FCP. They have a blue and green screen filter that does wonders. It's tweakable with sliders for edge thinning and feathering...there's also a "spill suppressor" which will eliminate any of the blue or green glow that may bounce back onto the subject from the wall, but i didn't need to use it.
Also, when I get a sec, I'll post some examples of some shots we did that didn't turn out so well. Peace!
