Green Screening with DSLR Footage

This is the best video in my Green-Screening series to date, 6 done and 20 something to go, fingers crossed they will be all done in 2015! Then bring on Green-Screening: Part Deux.

This video was made to the brief of an old timey ticker tape parade & all effects were done in After Effects including the title animation. Title designed by Adam Carter - http://instagram.com/adam.carter The locations are some of my favorite places bars and restaurants in NYC and the CU faces are some famous faces from the silver screen.

This video was my first time using motion blur which, wow!!! takes up alot of render time. Only used it on two clips with lots of movement. Also this was my first attempt at building confetti, I wonder if Cinema 4D has a better Confetti module, script, preset or method.

The rest of it consists of all the basics keylight and tracking. All footage was shot on DSLR.

Hope everyone likes.

I don't get it. How do you remove the white spots and crosses from the green background?

Google "remove tracking markers". It's a fairly common problem when doing greenscreen with 3d (which needs the markers to track the camera).

I rotoscoped each marker out with the mask tool, took forever!!! This series was the first time I ever shot something to be keyed, so I unfortunately used white tape and alot of it, there are dozens of markers. Everytime a band member or any foregreound object passes in front of the marker I have to animate the mask. Since this music video series I have shot on green screen several times and have found preparation is key. A properly lit background with a slightly different color green tape for the markers solved all my previous problems. I can now track the markers but still key them out with a little bit of a push in keylight.

Just curious - the vids I've seen from this series have totally "DSLR-look" keys... too-hard edges, dark outlines, no hair detail, etc... are you going for that look, sort of "this is obviously keyed" style (not being a smartass, sometimes whimsical concepts do a really chopped-in look)?

Curious since I've never keyed 5D footage; T2i and 7D was tough to not get the DSLR keys and took a lot of fighting... D7100 the best DSLR I've had to pull comps from (I assume the 5300 would be the same). Nothing beats BMC for cheap keying cameras though!
