Green Screen Test (Very Short)

So yeah, I bought this green screen from B&H and I've finally had time to test it out.

This is a short 8 second test done with only one 750w light. Turned out pretty good considering I had only one light and my green screen had been folded up for 2 months while I was in NY, so when I pulled it out, it was riddle with wrinkles. I had no where to iron it (24'x10') in my house so I just sucked it up and went for it (since it was only a test).

I'm doing a music video in a few weeks and I wanted to test out a rain scene. The rain was done with Particle illusion and the keying was done in After Effects. Lightning flashes in the cloud were done with Shine with a little CC with Magic Bullet. I can't afford a real rain rig (nor can I control the weather...yet) so I had to do this.

I was nervous at first about getting a green screen after reading here, but for only having one light and a wrinkled sheet, this turned out pretty good. I guess now I just need to invest in some more lights.

Yeah, so if anyone has any suggestions or comments, let me know!

P.S. Yes I know I'm not in sync with the song, as a matter of fact, I'm not even singing the song. I was just moving my mouth and moving around to see how good the keying would be.

*Edit*

You can see how it was done from start to finish at the link below:

Thanks, it's just a rough draft for now. Hopefully when I actually do the music video for the guy, I can get him to be hosed down with water to make the effect more believable, as well as have a little better lighting and keying. Might add a few other things as well.

Here's actually a time line video on how I got from the original footage to the final. You can see just how bad the green screen was wrinkled and lit lol.

I was about...3 feet in front of it lol. The room I did it in was very small. Since I only had that one light to work with, I had to use it to light me AND the green screen at the same time.

In the future though I expect to put my subjects maybe 5 or 6 feet in front of it, since once I move in a few weeks, I'll be able to stretch my green screen to it's full 24'x10' size. I'm also going to get some more lights.

this is a silly question, but what software do you use for green-screens? is it possible in NLEs like PPro?

Yes it is possible in almost all NLEs, but you might get better results using a costly plug-in into a NLE.

Adobe After Effects comes with a pretty good keyer. I used color range to get the green out (since the lighting was uneven, I had different shades of green). Then I messed with the hue/saturation of the green to make the left over green around me into a different color that matched the background.
