Matthews brand

but this is what im leaning towards

20'x20' CK-Green (Sewn: Four Strips) (Intl. Ship Limited) † $594.95with this added
RP_20 3.5" Pocket across a 20' edge (Rod/Stand Not Included) $38.95

looking for a 20 by 20 or 20 by 30 if its not much more, preferably one that i can just hang and dont have to stretch out

I have the Matthews, but I got the Blue/Green combination so I could shoot both. And I got 12x12 since I wanted to set it up indoors as well as out, and few of our rooms have 20ft clearance.

The Rag Place is another excellent place to go, but not cheap. They do awesome custom work though.

I don't know anything about the EEFX unit. Sorry.

How do you like the matthews? whats the material like? can you fold it up and move it, set it back up without wrinkles? or how long does it take to get the wrinkles out?

do you know about how expensive rag place is vs matthews?

I like the Matthews just fine. They make excellent products which is why I went with them. The material is excellent. Heavy, solid, feels like it will last a long time and can take abuse.

I don't know if you can fold it up, move it, and set it back up. Not a need I have. Not sure how long it takes to get the wrinkles out as I set up a day in advance when it's going to be used.

The Rag Place was more expensive when I was looking, so I went with Matthews.

Matthews 20' x 20' Green Screen - Chromakey, Butterfly / Overhead Fabric Only

what does that mean? the only?

Fabric only means it does not come with a frame, corners, or anything else. Not sure if it comes with the strings or not. Mine did. You may want to get some MatthTies.

matthews youtube video about there green screens

im leaning towards eefx because of the material they use and how i understand lighting them to be easier, just read more than a few horror stories about there customer service even though once people get the product they seem to really like it

My .02 about eefx: their backgrounds are great and work well - once you actually receive them; 'customer service' is an oxymoron when it comes to that company.

Call this place and compare prices:

http://www.laraghouse.com/

They will make custom sizes, their screens come with an opaque black backing, eyelets on all sides.

.

Thanks, will do. Chris I read in another post that you owned an eefx and you didn't like how light came through it. Have you gotten to use one from laraghouse to compare yours to?

Anyone else got one from laraghouse.com?

I own an eefx screen that I paid way too much for - I know I paid more than I would have for one from la raghouse. I have ordered many large screens from la raghouse for a film I'm a producer on and the main differences are - la raghouse puts eyelets on all sides (industry standard and no, they don't charge extra for this), they have an opaque black backing (industry standard and no, they don't charge extra for this), and they come with a bag.

If you're outdoors or on a set where there might be stray light hitting the back of the screen, it could present a problem even though I'd admit it hasn't been a serious problem for me yet.

Rental houses buy screens from la raghouse (that's how I found out about them).

the prices were a LOT cheaper with the grommets, they also included the ties and a bag free, grommets were not something i needed but its cool that its there if that changes and i ever get a frame, and i actually got ahold of someone all 3 times i called and emails were returned within an hour so i went with them, thanks chris, they answered several questions i had about the green screen and after reading all the customer service horror stories that is eefx.com i went with laraghouse.com, i called eefx a few times and sent a couple emails, none answered, no emails returned... i got a 20 by 20 polypro from la raghouse, they said the night and day movie used there polypro green screen

The foam-backed material is way easier to de-wrinkle. Just use a steamer. No need to iron.

However, the last shoot I did, I just bought a roll of green paper.....so much easier!

On the cheap side, I've bought the muslin backdrops from the bay... just regular weight muslin (think bed sheets), but a perfectly saturated green with a rod pocket, 12 x 20 was under $20. Got it to experiment with, using the heck out of it.

My studio has a wall with large windows, which I usually have blocked with a duvateen curtain - when the black's not there, hard sunlight light will show through it.

I have a standup steamer in the dressing room stuff and I generally stretch it tight with a-clamps and give it a shot of steam, gives me a perfectly flat BG.

By the way, I bought a 5x7 Fotodiox blue/green popup - not that hot - the material is shiny and reflective, and textured... and a dull gray-green. Very hard to get a clean key with the green side.

In the 'almost certainly not good, but cheap' category, I saw this Make Your Own Music Video book at my local grocery store today. It doesn't specify a size, but you can see someone put it up in the promo video at the link, looks about 6' x 8'. I figure for $13, I might as well give it a shot.
