Great Trailers Thread

I just really hate "best / worst movies" threads because half the people in the world can't distinguish between what's good / bad with what they like / dislike.

It's nothing personal against anyone, but generally when movies like Transformers or Epic Movie or Spider-Man 3 come up... I just feel if you think those are the worst films ever, you haven't really lived. Go visit a couple of independent film festivals. Go watch SOI COWBOY or R.O.T.O.R.

Enough ranting though, I figured what would really be more relevant in a forum like this is a list of great trailers. Something we could go back to, whenever we're cutting our own or just want to revisit something awesome or see something new.

So, here are some of my favorites over the years, in no particular order.

Remember when THIS ONE was unleashed upon us? It looked SO FRIGGIN AWESOME.

Then this one came and gave us new hope after the last bitter disappointment.

Here are a couple of trailers from recent years worth remembering:

That Comedian Movie trailer reminded me of this one:

I always thought this was a great trailer, despite its use of "in a world", and I believe it was cut by the film's editor (and composer) John Ottman--

I worked for the guy who made this trailer, which is one of the few older trailers that still stacks up to anything made today--

While I was never enticed to see this movie (which on that regard I suppose the trailer failed - but it's not my type of film anyways), I do love how this was put together:

This one's a classic. The original ALIEN teaser. Was reminded of this because of the AICN article today.

The Matrix Reloaded.

In large part because of Lawrence Fishburne's v.o. narration -

What if the war could be over? Wouldn't that be worth fighting for? Wouldn't that be worth dying for?

Still gives me chills.

Also, the theatrical trailer for Pearl Harbor. One of those really awesomely cut trailers promoting an awesomely crapful movie...

Already posted 4 posts above yours. Better quality as well.

Great Trailer though. One of the best for sure.

There is an awesome Aliens teaser trailer that was done similarly to the earlier Alien trailers/teasers. It has no dialogue, just music and some minimal sound design.

I remember the Pearl Harbor trailer. It was pretty epic. And I don't exactly hate the film, nor do I love it. I think it has some good stuff in it, but gets a bit sappy here and there. I think they were chasing the Titanic vibe too much.

The Reloaded trailer was pretty damn good, but I really dig the teaser for The Matrix. It's very mysterious and full of imagery, while not giving away anything about the plot. That is what a good teaser trailer should do.

My feelings regarding Pearl Harbor are more...definite. Trailer still rocks, though...maybe some day they'll make the movie that actually goes with it.

There was one like that for Alien 3 (Alienses), too.

I don't think I've seen one like that for Alien 3. I'll have to search for it.

I remember when I went to see the first Men In Black film way back in the summer of 97, and this trailer starts with an eerie version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star playing out against a star field. A starship moves into frame, and then gradually as the trailer progresses, I realize that it is another Alien film... one with multiple aliens and guns and soldiers and all that kind of stuff that I loved about Aliens. HOLY ****!!! I just about jumped out of my seat, raining popcorn down upon the rest of the audience.

Unfortunately, this film turned out to be Alien Resurrection. Pretty damn good trailer though.

The Watchmen trailer induced goosebumps and a stronger desire for time travel.
And when I finally got to see The Watchmen I just about **** during the previews when that familiar Terminator music fired up during that trailer, pretty much had the same effect trailer wise... but I think the movie failed me... the future, has failed me.
