Well, the good news is that "2nd Unit" came together better than we could have imagined. We designed a 6-camera shoot for the CMSA/Jeffers $100k Southern Championship Cowboy Mounted Shooting event in Tunica, MS with the standard 1st Unit and a new 2nd Unit comprised of 2 DVXUser.com board members. We flew Ed Hill of Ed Hill PR in from Atlanta, GA and Warren Schultz from Medfor, Oregon in to make up the 2nd Unit team and they were a great team. Fitting right in with the regular camera people, they were living proof of a couple of things; 1) DVXuser.com has some great people who bring with them an incredible work ethic and endless willingness to learn and 2) our idea to mix relative armatures with a professional televising sports crew makes for an incredible story that hopefully will be told here and on www.dvx-2ndunit.com. The short story is that the six JVC's that replaced our usual cameras performed flawlessly with the usual issues popping up when you're trying to coordinate that intense a production but the cameras worked great. (We knew they would!!!)
I'm hoping they'll take some time and report to you here in this area their feelings of the week working with the team but that's up to them. As for us, we couldn't have asked for a more helpful pair to assist us in bringing the making of a show to the Board.
The bad news is that we were supposed to be posting to the site all week while we were on location and flat ran out of time. We'll be bringing the experience to all of you this week on the web site while we're getting ready for NAB so please check into www.DVx-2ndUnit.com.
I'll be setting the time and daty for the mini-party in Las Vegas next week tomorrow and will be posting that here as well.
