I did not come up with this Idea, I was looking through vimeo and saw this.
I think that seeing the outside of a viewfinder is pointless, I want to see what my eye will see through the viewfinder, this way I will not be disappointed about my purchase.
here is what this person did... http://vimeo.com/7323745 , if you have one of the many different kinds of viewfinders please post what your eye will see.

Hey, thanks! That was very helpful. I'm trying to decide btween those very two. I was really leaning toward the IDC Hoodman with follow focus. Now I'm more confused. Z finder has the magnification but IDC has the better mounting system with follow focus. AARRRGH!

Get the LCDVF unless you need a diopter. Way better then the Hoodman and much cheaper the the Z-Finder

This guy did a great comparison of the Z-Finder vs the LCDVF: http://www.gearnewsandreviews.com/?p=230

I've never used the Z-Finder so I can't say if the 3x is better then the 2x of the LCDVF...but I can say that the LCDVF is WAY better then the Hoodman. ...unless you absolutely need a diopter. Hoodman and Z-Finder both have a diopter. I don't wear glasses so it's not a problem for me.
