I’m not sure if it has already been indicated but Doug Jensen made a great FS5 instruction video course. The FS5 Master Class in on rent on Vimeo, $85US for 6 months.
The video course covers every needed to master the FS5, he explains in detail every button, function and menu; how to setup the FS5 properly and provide advice all along the course.

I’ve been hesitating purchasing the FS5, as moving from the A7S has a hobbyist I was afraid not being able to utilize the full potential of this video camera, I thought the FS5 was a complex device. I’ve been spending time on the net looking at comparison between the FS5, AS7II and A7RII but after watching this course, what I can say is forget the camera that can make video and if you can afford it, go for the FS5!

After watching Doug’s course, no fear any more. I’m waiting for the FS5 I’m ordering, I’m already very excited at the idea of what I’ll be able to do with it.

The course is based on the firmware 1.1, I hope Doug can make an update video once the v2.0 of the firmware is released to cover all new functions.

The 1[SUP]st[/SUP] chapter is free (Introduction and overview) and the video is as long as 56:40 minutes! Enjoy it!

Your welcome!
I got the FS5 yesterday, i had the feeling I new the camera already. Ok, I might be too excited, but anyway your videos are great.

I've two questions:

1. Waiting for the FS5, last week I've setup my A7S picture profile with the same WYSIWYG FS5 PP you are suggesting. The result is very good. What change in the A7S PP setting would you make to match two camera?

2. The FS5 v2.0 firmware brings new Zebra options, would you advice to use now the zebra 2 instead of zebra 1 for the suggested WYSIWIG Picture profile?

Thanks,
Claude

Congratulations on the new camera.

1) To be honest, I don't know. I've never had any reason to try to match my FS5 and A7s and I don't even know if it can be done to my satisfaction. Overall I was disappointed with the video capabilities of the A7s and I only use it for stills today.

2) Yes, I would absolutely encourage you to use zebra 1 instead of zebra 2 now that the camera offers that capability. This was a big shortcoming of the original camera and I lobbied hard to get Sony to add it. However, I do need to say that I have been on the road since before NAB and won't get a chance to try it on my own FS5 for a couple of more weeks. But I have no reason to think it won't work just as well as zebra 2 on all the other Sony cameras I own.

Thanks for the honest feedback.
You'll likely be correct, after using the FS5 i'll probably give-up using the A7S on land.
