Ok Ok so I know this is supposed to be the dvx footage only forum, but I had to show all us dvx guys what someone did with an xl1. I saw this along time ago here at dvx user but I thought I'd bring it to the surfice again. This guy has a great sense of lighting and composition, just think if he would have shot it on our own DVX, still I can't be believe this was shot with an xl1...this is one of the best Film looks i've seen! Anyhow just thought I'd share....Cheers

Looks pretty good, but it didn't look quite like 24p (it wasn't). I don't have audio so I didn't watch the whole thing...

From what I've read, the music videos were shot with a Sony Fx1 and a 35mm homemade adapter. Maybe the shorts were shot with the XL1, but to achieve that kind of dof he definitely used an adapter.

Here's what it looks like.

How do you know this was shot on an XL1?

I was over at dvinfo looking through their film look forum and came accross the link to this clip. The guy who posted apparently knew it was shot on a Xl1. Really I don't know how reliable that was, but the point is that it wasn't shot at 24p and he still made it look alot like film. I've seen some stuff shot at 24p that doesn't even come close to it, add this dudes skills with the right frame rate and we could have real winner. I love it because it's a great example of how it's not just one thing that makes the ever sought after "film" look.

Never mind how it looks. What about the uninteresting dialoge and lack of decent characters.Trying too hard with those shots.Felt no atmosphere at all.Dodgy voice over all out of sync.Overated a touch i think.Couldnt care less wat camera was used to make this.

I think he just meant it LOOKED good. Of course the story was crap. I don't remember him mentioning the writing though.

We were just discussing the film look, stated in the thread title "great film look". Yes some of the dialogue was a little off, the characters weren't that bad.

Do you have something better to show us ?

"There's some vingetting around the edges, but other than that, it had a pretty good look to it"

Yes he also explained this in his thread, it was for the look. I saw that too.
