Great Camera

Great Camera period. I have shot for over 15years and have had my own company for the last 7 years. My first investment was a DVcam full size camera that I made alot of money with. I made the jump to the HVX in Feb. and quickly started changing over to the camera and I can't say enough. I chroma key with it on a regular basis and shoot long form in the field all the time. I went to the Vegas bootcamp and got to meet Barry, Jarrod and all the other great folks at the event and saw just how many people were using the camera. At the bootcamp we discussed how the camera has changed our production and I remember Barry saying it had moved him into another level of production without the large investment. I agreed then and I definitely agree now. We just finished a four week production all on the camera and posted in FCP. Over 200GBs of 720 24pn footage with no problems. With the few down sides to the camera the color, frame rate and dvcpro codec, for me, make it a great purchase.

indeed... Couldn't agree wit you more. It's also made me feel more in control of the images I can get because of the options that I have. I came from the caveman days of the XL1.... brrr, those were some cold technological times by comparison.

I'm about to shoot a bunch of green screen. What's been your findings? How have you been lighting the screen? The subjects? What format?

Thanks and I'm now glad that the newness and anxiety have warn off. For a couple of weeks I was eternally fearful of beers falling from the sky onto my camera, and wayward skateboarders... and headless horsemen approaching and destroying my camera.

Thanks for sharing your love at this 12 step HVX program....

We have been shooting everything 720 24pn. I use a 1k open face arri shooting throw a silk to key with, I light the blue screen with 2 650 fernals with 1/2 blue gel, and use a 150 with opal for my back light. I use either foam core or another 150 for fill. We have about 15 feet from the screen to were we video our talent. Which has made a great difference but not as much as shooting it in hd. I have chromakeyed with Sony's Xdcam (the sd version) at it highest setting, also with beta and dvcam. The HVX by far has given me the best key. We edit in FCP and have had the great succes using Boris's chromakey filter.
