Graphic Card FCP?

Hi guys, after purchasing the mac pro 8 core standard one, I finally got round to installing 4 x 1tb hardrives (1 x boot and 3 x raid 0), 4 x 2 gb ram and the graphic card ATI Radeon HD 3870 that some of you advised I should do.

Upon opening the mac I noticed the graphic card was HUGE!. So big it had two power cables running to it. I looked at the invoice and it said it should be installed with the basic ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB graphic card that comes as standard, but when I took it out, it turned out to be a NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 1.5GB :huh: At first I didnt know what it was and i almost just threw it out thinking it was the basic model. Then curiosity got the better of me and I search it on the web via serial number and realised its the expensive one that apple does. Since my ethics played on me, I called up Apple and told them of the situation and the guy said dont worry about it, keep it... :dankk2: Im just wondering if its worth now swapping this with the ATI Radeon HD 3870 as Im only doing basic effects on fcp and flog this on ebay or if this graphic card should stay in the machine and if there is a noticable difference between the two that i will appreciate. Youll have to excuse my ignorance, Im not too clued up on tech specs.

Any advice would be appreciative
 
You'll really see a difference in programs that require alot of ram preview like Motion, After Effects, Color, and any 3D program. As for simple things in FCP, well you won't really have to wait for anything.

I would definitely keep this and check your credit card (if that's what you paid with) to see if apple didn't charge you for it. It's about $3k or more if I remember correctly.

Hi mate checked I didnt get charged, didnt see your post in time and sold on ebay for 500
