Granny Clampet wants shallow depth-of-field

Wow I guess I'll have to stop chastising all my friends who steal the magic bullet products...

not saying I agree with it- just that its funny. Stu and folks over at RGS have thier own issues with MB compatibility misinformation.

I have seen some gorgeous footage from the GH1. Didn't mean for it to come off as trolling

I think it is cute and misinformative. I also think it is funny how there is some emotional attachment people have for their cameras and the need to defend their uncontrollable love of their hardware. I remember growing up and hearing all too often the phrase "I bet my Dad can beat up your Dad".

But...my dad can beat up your dad....

What a bunch of BullSh*t.

This kinda stuff usually comes from negative, pessimistic or hater type personalities with deep entrenched physiological issues. Ignore it; move on folks, absolutely nothing to see here of value, or of a single molecule of interest....

Pappas, you could fight a lot of it by just posting some of that cinematic wizardry you do so well. Represent in the screening room, yo!

Barry, My body is allergic to chopping blocks............. :-D There are others here that are, and have done far far better at making wonderful images than I. I would do my GH1 an extreme misjustice of what it fully is capable of.

.

You should shoot for the sake of entertaining people. I for one have no desire to fall into the pixel peeping, "If the image isn't beautiful then I ain't watching", "story? who needs story when you have a killer image?" type of crowd. I have no desire to talk about what settings I used, the kind of lens, the compression, or anything in between because when it's all about that then I will just quit this forever and save myself the failure in the end. Not saying I won't discuss it because it's obvious the value of it when you're a "rebel without a crew" but it's not so important to me that it becomes the foundation of my filmmaking.

It seemed to me that the main point being made over there was that if you are making a full scale production with all the ancillary hardware and manpower and planning that's involved, it doesn't make much sense to have a very low cost recording device such as the GH1 at the sharp end - which seems sensible enough for me. I guess not many people who can easily afford to go the Red route are rushing to ditch that for the GH1. For people like me whose budget doesn't stretch beyond the GH1 (not even to add lenses) the GH1 is unbeatable at the price. But not unbeatable at any price.
