hi,

i'm new to using the DVX and i was experimenting with 24p. The picture quality is great, but sometimes it's very grainy. Anyone have any tricks or suggestions on the best way to reduce the grain? I know lighting can be a problem, but there must be a way to reduce the grain even in dimly lit enviroments.

I am using the Master Quality tapes from panasonic for taping.

all help is much appreciated.

This may be a silly suggestion ( you might be far more advanced a videographer than I am).

Unless you are shooting in a dark environment, always be sure you have the "Gain" Switch Set to "L" for low. I have had one or two occasions where the switch was accidently set to "M" ( which I believe is 6db ).

Can you post a grab of this?

If it is that grainy you need to give the CCD's a light source. That goes with any kind of camera.
