A simple video we shot for Grafh and Busta Rhymes a while back. Two days at a studio and one day exterior. Mostly Kinos/1ks and natural exteriors. HVX200 and Letus35 Advanced w/ Nikons.

H.264 Version is on my site under music videos

I liked it. Simple hip hop video. Good usage of b-roll.

My only criticism would be the model shots were a bit eh to me. I always try to shoot them with as much attention as I do the rappers and their crew in terms of shot angles and b-roll. Overal concept is nothing revolutionary but clean video.

Also the scenes with Busta was that green screen to make clean solid black background?

was this all stock lens on the HVX?

pretty sweet. the b&w looked nice and make this pop. i agree with the comment about the models. one of the models was a little chunky, maybe some different angles for her rather then showing the front on unflattering angle, but hey, maybe that's what they wanted.

the shots of busta looked great, especially since he and the last guy had better verses than the main rapper.

good job overall.

I was looking at the rest of your work on your site, It all looks great! How many of your videos/commercials/narratives were shot on video (and of those, how many were HVX200?) and how many were shot on film?

Thanks, for the budget it definitely came together.

We did a day with Busta, Grafh, Prinz all green screen and all black. The following day Busta couldn't be there so we used the green screen to match the white/pattern studio day.

Settings? 720p24n. Mostly stock settings. Again with a Letus35 and Nikon Lenses.

Most of the videos on my site are HVX200 w/ Mini35 or Letus or just stock. A few are Varicam/CineAlta/ and Super16mm. I don't have any of my 35mm or RED videos up yet.

Best,

Matt

Do you own all of your gear? Do you make a pretty good living doing this? Sorry to be personal, I'm just trying to figure out my carreer path, and I wanted to hear from experienced pros.

I really liked this video very much. I really enjoyed the Kris Parker vid "HIP HOP".

Hey,

The black was a velvety fabric. Green was chroma fabric/foam. White was a hard cyc and the patterns were custom inked onto V-Flats.

I actually don't own any equipment, just a light meter and a viewfinder. We usually just rent. A really great Letus Ultimate and Advanced package in NYC is www.inconspicuousproductions.com

Shooting for a living is definitely difficult and if you are in NYC or LA it is very competitive. You have to be ready for the good and the bad, but once you get to a certain level and you are working consistantly its great.
