A church in San Jose had me film their annual Easter play, The Messiah. This is a trailer taken from dress rehearsal footage. We played this in the lobby during performances to help sell the DVD preorders, which are in production now.

It was put together pretty quickly, so go easy.... :-)

Me and two friends shot this 24pa, tried to get as close to natural whte as possible during shoot (which is not easy with dramatic lighting), then used MB (Mexicali) to give it a desert feel. Edited in FCP, titles in Motion. Everything was done super quick, so they're not too fancy. They hadn't even delivered their artwork or fonts to me yet, so had to go with standards. Comments and criticisms welcome.

PS - In the actual trailer we had for the DVD, I did take out a lot of the yellowish/greenish tint that you see especially in the cross pic. This was caused by the extreme blue lighting. CC'd it to a more neutral color pre-filter and it came out a lot better.

Thanks much,
Jared

Considering you were filming a dramatic production which has completely different style of lighting from film, I thought this was very well done.

Having filmed our own dramatic productions at our church, I wonder how the actual DVD came out. I almost expect this trailer is more dramatic than the full production. Nonetheless, I would enjoy seeing the full production, when will it be completed?

Good job!

Hopefully in a few weeks. No telling for sure. The render time for MB alone will probably be horrendous. ugghhh.

it's very PASSION of the Christ like. how your use of music and the titles creep in. it's all very well made- i'm just getting lethargic towards "Passion".

That's exactly how I described the drama to someone who asked about it...

"A low budget Passion of the Christ".

I realize Passion's overplay in the public, but in their defense, this is their 3rd or 4th year running.
