Grabs From War

Re: Grabs From War

there's no maple leafs/trees in vietnam, you gotta change the venue because it's really obvious.also, there is no autumn in 'nam and the white shirts are too clean for crazy soldiers.anyway, correct the red by lowering the red channel in color balance.

Re: Grabs From War

good points on the foliage and locale.

the red is more apparent on the first half of the shots, and less on the latter. however, i don't think it's bad (viewing on a Macintosh Powerbook LCD screen)

but i can see that you may be looking for that apocolyptic gray feel. desaturate overall, add some contrast, and maybe try some magicbullet.

Re: Grabs From War

wow, that was like REALLY fast... yeah and thanks for the ocmments, in premiere 1.5, where is the red balance thing?

Re: Grabs From War

can't help you...i'm a Final Cut guy myself. but there should be some color adjustment filters. poke around.

Re: Grabs From War

hahah cool. and with magic bullet, i appiled the bleach bypass, and it came really dark, so im going to premiere, taking out my filters there, adding magic bullet, then fixing up more in premiere. sound good?

Re: Grabs From War

To take out red, you need to add it's compliment, which would be cyan. Is there a specific look that you are trying to accomplish?

Re: Grabs From War

Also in one of the grabs you can see the leg of someone wearing jeans and sandals... and socks. How dare he commit such a faux pas? I guess if you were willing, it'd be easy to crop out.

Re: Grabs From War

wait where's the sandals!?!?!?!?
**** i see em
um damn

and the look is saving private ryan war cliche whatever style

Re: Grabs From War

Looks fun(though it may be a serious gripping war drama), am looking forward to seeing the movie(please post it!!!).

Does the guy get fragged or did the damn vc take him out while he's taking a piss(bastards!)

As for color correction or changing the "look"... mostly all the magic bullet presets will drop the look of the image 2 stops ie make it dark. But you can play with the prests to try and manipulate it to work for you. For Bleach Bypass, under Post, merely playing with the post contrast which is set at I think 70. Change it to 65, then 60... and so on, you may find a look you like that isn't too dark.

A simple effect you could play with is Desaturation, which I'm sure Premiere will have. Basically the more you desaturate, the less color exists. Play around with it and you may find a look you like.

Good luck, and look forward to seeing some Platoon like cinema.

Re: Grabs From War

another thing to be honest, those guns look really fake, they resemble grease guns in WWII and your film is 'Nam ,US GI's used M-16"s and M-14's,while the VC uses AK's.also rarely do you see guns painted in camouflage and they never use submachineguns in the jungles of 'Nam,they used assault rifles--much longer . just change the venue/story from 'Nam to something like "a bunch of crazy kids from Iowa got dissillusion by the violence of video games that they decided to mock-up 'Nam and killed their buddy in the process." at least it's real.

Re: Grabs From War

hahahha nice comments... lol. yeah hes taking a piss... BAM! but real guns, are hard to come by, and not that safe to shoot with in my town.

Re: Grabs From War

that's Vietnam Springs, Wisconsin
right?

never seen pink blood

"super mario brothers 2005" in theatres this summer

Re: Grabs From War

The composition was really nice. The red didn't bother me, hardly noticed it. Although some of the later shots seem really blurry. I won't criticize the white shoes (a soldier with a death wish) or the cameramans sandals, or the location, because you made do with the resources you have available. This isn't Band of Brothers budget material. I respect you for getting out there and shooting it. Looks like you all had fun and you're only going to get better.

There is one more thing; Near the end, the man standing (looks like he's urinating) and then blood squirts out of his mouth. Mental Note: If blood squirts out of your mouth when urinating, I suggest seeing a doctor, penicilin, and be MORE particular with the girls you take home. ;)

Keep up the good work mobiledeli.

Re: Grabs From War

I've been to war and you're actors dont look like anything I've seen. No one in the military is allowed to wear white T-shirts either. It's kinda like giving the enemy a big glowing target. Good job on the compositions though.

HA! dang pk. you funny! :D

Re: Grabs From War

yeah well we did it with what we had, this budget is like 100 dollars for the pants and thats about it. its not easy making a movie on that kinda money when its a war movie... but we thought wed give it a try

Re: Grabs From War

Exactly mobiledeli. We all make do with what we've got. We're not disrespecting your movie. A war flick is VERY difficult with no budget ($100). Once agian, the shots look really nice. You've got talent. Keep it up!

When can we expect to see a trailer? Sometimes video can speak louder than stills. Good luck!

Re: Grabs From War

thanks thanks. well heres the skinny on the trailer, i aint got ANY webspace that allows video, im cheap cant you tell, and also i dont have sorenson to compress it. so... yeah...
