These are some grabs from a shoot a couple of days ago for a short film I am making with some friends.

Shot with DVX and SGPRO rev3 and Pentax 50mm and 28mm lenses.

No colour correction yet.

why did you go for the Pentax lenses? do you like it?

the grabs looks nice, but some shots look under exposed to me.
also I'm sure you notice it but you can see the texture of the GroundGlass on the 5th picture

I already had the pentax lenses from a K1000 camera, but no particular preference for them. I think the images look more overexposed due to exporting them through photoshop, the footage doesn't look as dark!

The ground glass one is quite noticeable, I guess I need to use a faster shutter speed? I think that was with the 28mm lens - It's not something I want to have again next time, but didn't notice until the footage was captured. Any ideas?

Also what are people's opinions on the best lenses? Most people seem to go for Nikon ones...

if you don't want to see the GG use a lower shutter speed and open up the apature.
if you have a high shutter speed and you close down the apature the GG will be noticable.

I use Nikon lenses. and it's because the first camera I had was the Nikon F3.
when I got my first camera (the F3) I searched and searched and searched because I knew I was not going to change brands once I start investing into those expensive lenses so it was either Nikon or Canon for me.

The grabs look nice:)
But I have to say, it's hard to tell if it looks "good" if you can't see any moving footage.

But still, they look good.

Are you gonna colorgrade more?

I would suggest adding a slight tint (just to get that nice movie-look) and then adding a subtle color to it. Maybe yellow and red or cyan.
Like a color balance filter with some cyan shadow, might do the trick:thumbup:

Looking forward to some footage!

Lovely....i especially like the 2nd,4th and the last one, more color would make them look really nice!!

the SGpro rules for not seeing the GG:

always use fresh batteries (change them after about 8 hours of use)

always use 180 degree shutter (1/50th for 25p and 1/48th for 24p) - you can stray from this if you're going for a special effect.

at 180 degrees - never stop down past f5.6 on your 35mm lens - if you need to cut light then adjust your cameras iris and use the ND's
