grabs from last production

just came back from a one week shoot with the DVX, here are some very first grabs... no corrections made yet.
i used the anamorphic lens and eventually (to those of you who  watched me struggling on this board) chose to frame 2.35:1 (i LOVE this frame!!!).
we expected a slightly cloudy sky but got, in the middle of september, one week of a cruel, direct, strong sun. but guess what, the DVX handled it quite well. i was very impressed.

Re: grabs from last production

Those frames look really nice. I am amazed at how much the DVX just plain kicks a**! Great job.

Question:

Is the 2:35 done 'in camera' or in 'post'?

Re: grabs from last production

I think in order to achieve that aspect raito, one can use the Anamorphic adaptor, and then use the internal widescreen setting on the camera (that crops off the top and bottom). That or I guess you can do it in post, too, and just as effectively.

Re: grabs from last production

very nice grabs. The ligthing in the first clip looks phenomenal.

Re: grabs from last production

thanks all!!!

i taped the top and bottom of the LCD and the monitor according to the letterbox bars given in the camera, but shot without the bars, to allow reframe later if needed. letterboxing the anamorphic with the 16:9 bars will actually give 2.33:1 aspect ratio while the common ratio of screening is 2.39:1. so i've learned on this board :)

the lighting in the first clip is the "coffin" idea, took from the "godfather"--
in my case it was: 2 "dedo-light" facing down in 45deg., hanged from a polecat. then a white diffusion under it, cut around by black wrap to have a gradual lighting on the walls. very easy to make and always looks like a 1 million..

Re: grabs from last production

hey shAi, thanks for posting these. I will be filming soon, and I was blocking for 2.35:1. Wasn't sure if anybody else had tried it. The frames look great. I am definately going to shoot to crop in post.

_Really_ beautiful...
so I would _really_ like to see a picture of this setup.
_Please_, is it possible?
