interesting facts:

it was lit with a single 2k blondie and 4x dual 500w (total 1000w) worklights. some with 3200k globes, some without.

used white baking paper for diffusion and stood the floodlights on tables to get a higher angle than waist hight.

90% of the film is shot on a 50mm f2 preAI nikkor and with a 250 degree shutter. except for some of the band shots that were with an 85mm f2 AIS nikkor. all the band stuff was shot with a 180 degree shutter.

the film is only half shot. the rest will be shot this weekend.

thanks many. i don't have any of the footage. only these grabs the director sent me after i nagged him :)

i'll post the film on vimeo when it's done though.

White baking paper..That's an incredible idea for diffusion. I guess that softens it up quite a bit huh?

Does it burn it after a while?

Nice grabs, looking forward to see this short.

i had 3 to 4 layers on the 2k at all times. except for the band stuff. it never burnt. after an hour or two the first layer had a slight brown spot on it. it's baking paper. it's supposed to be put in an oven! :D

it's great diffusion. it works better than the "spun" you get from lighting places in some circumstances... you CAN'T put 4 layers of spun on a 2k an not set it on fire.

thanks for the offer jazzy. is this Jon or Roland? but the song is the complete wrong style the director wants. he's going for an indie alternative type feel. we've got a local band to do the music and they're in the movie as well. http://www.myspace.com/staceyssecond

BUT we make films all the time and i will definitely keep you in mind for future projects! i dig your music and the art you've got on your page is really good.

this is jon. i figured as much from the screen captures, wasn't a hip hop kinda movie.
look us up if you do ever make one though!
