Grabs from a Short I'm currently shooting...

Hey,
I just finished my first day of shooting (directing/shooting/editing/writing/producing etc... you know the drill. No money etc...) A short film with some actor-friends of mine.

It's my second short film ever, my first directing and written (the first short film I was the A.D and editor for a school project) and first time using DVX100b outside of having no tape in it and practicing with it.

More info on me / the production etc... later. I'll make a new thread with it's story / title / and all that once it's done shooting.

However I will say, it's a game of russian roullete.

Anyway, I have a problem with how this footage looks : In FCP it looks fine, but when I exported it as still image, it looks extra squeezed / like the top/bottom are too close.
Also, it's not color corrected or anything, so it'll look better when it's done. (I hope. haha)

...I shot using the squeeze mode, 24pA. Any idea how to fix this look? or what I did wrong capturing it? or...what?

Thanks.

Shooting day 2, this monday.

They appear much more crisp and clean (less noise) also with black letterbox in FCP....yet in picture form they're squised ever so slightly...

Lots of noise in the above photo ....it doesn't look like that in FCP when it's playing. ...odd.

By the way, lit using home depot lights. 2 500w halogen worklights, and 2 75w(or 150? I forgot) trouble lights...
I have on-set pictures I'll upload later in it's own thread.

damn squished image problem....

Someone else can answer the compression questions, I have no idea. But I'll chime in on the grabs. I like these, I like the lighting and the frame. They're soft but fine, from what I can tell. Is that barf or brain matter on the hose? Yuck.

Thanks. and it's brain matter.

Actually it's corn syrup, water, red food coloring and mashed up bits of lays potatoe chips.

And here's on on-set pic (wish the photo was better composed ....but the guy taking the pictures doesn't even like movies, he's just an old friend from school that lives in the area)

I'm in the yellow holding the camera ...yes, no tripod. I know, I know...shame.

And here's my buddy (who has a brief acting cameo) fixing our lighting contraption.

Anyone have an idea how to get grabs from FCP without messing the image up like this? (though it's not messed up that bad, but still) . The problem seems to be it's squished from the top/bottom and adding slight noise. (though, not to say the images weren't noise-less, but they're def. more here then in FCP's canvas window)

By the way, my camera settings were:

f6 - 24pA

detail level - -5
detail coring - +3
v detail level - -1
chroma level - 1
chroma phase - -2
color temp - 0
master ped. - -1
skin tone det. - off
progressive 24pA
THIN (forgot...knee?)
Cine-like D + Cine-like settings
