Grab your 3D glasses - stereoscopic video of NASA lunar analog testing...

Just wanted to share my first attempt at producing stereoscopic 3D video, captured all this at NASA's Desert RATS (Research And Technology Studies) lunar analog testing at Black Point Lava Flow, AZ.

Here's the link to the optimized red/cyan hi-res .mp4: http://www.nasa.gov/mp4/389201main_nasa360-3d.mp4

And if you don't have the red/cyan glasses, there are other viewing options available on YouTube (different color glasses, active shutter glasses, parallel/cross-eyed/mirror viewing) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImPceq3XyQQ

(go to the actual YouTube page to get the drop-down viewing options menu).

I'm definitely open to (and welcome strongly) any comments, critiques, questions, etc.

Thanks for checking it out.

Two Canon HV20s mounted side-by-side on an old teleprompter plate, centers of the lenses about 3 inches apart (as close as I could get them). Head and tail slated with handclap.

Shot in 1080i, edited in FCP. Shooting 1080 gave me room to adjust convergence and vertical alignment in post and crop it to 720, so I didn't have those nasty borders on the sides. Used some tips from Tim Dashwood to create the red/cyan version, which is how I monitored the 3D.

The version for YouTube was uploaded in side-by-side format (left-eye view on the right, right-eye view on the left), and YouTube did the processing to put it into multiple 3D viewing formats (with the yt3d tag).

Again, this was my first attempt at 3D. I started reading up on it after I saw YouTube had come out with their YT3D feature, and thought it would be fun to try.

If anyone has any comments/critiques/other questions, I'd love to hear them and try to improve at this.
