Got to hold a RED today

Went to hang and watch some tests on the RED today and that camera is something else. Yeah it had a little back focus problem that is sending it back to the factory but it should be back by next week. After you dismember all the little goodies that get attached it looks like a 4 cylinder intake manifold. The tests will be up tonight or tomorrow at http://projectred.net/.
I still need to learn the whole work flow thing but from what Emery did on his laptop, it seems pretty easy. Pop the card in, open RED Alert, tweak, export a quicktime, edit to your hearts content. One thing I did notice that might be an issue is that it has fans underneath for cooling that are kind of loud. They were supposed to go silent when you hit record but these didn't. They sound like computer fans when they are on. Man oh man I can't wait to shoot on this thing.
 
I haven't been really paying attention to the hype until recently and now trying to play catch up but it does have its issues which are being worked out. I just felt like now I have to learn a whole new animal now. I was more in sponge mode soaking in everything that was going on plus it was only focus and color chip charts that were being shot. Hopefully there will be time to shoot some tests when it comes back for the music video.
It did sort of feel sexual though in an evolution kind of way. You can't help but think that what you hold in your hand maybe a huge milestone in film making and you are getting in on the ground floor.
