Got My HPX2700 Varicam yesterday....

Actually had it the day before but had some battery issues getting it going. After a shoot yesterday, my buddy gregger from abel cine and I pulled it out last night to start playing with it. I installed the proxy encode card to allow recording to the sd card slot and selected the highest bitrate/file size to MP4 with time code burns. Today i will install the cac file and user files that we provided to me by andy at abel. I will also install the gps card i got and be able to hook the panny 9" monitor for better focus. I am getting used to the hd viewfinder, particularly the peaking. I will post more later today as i have much to do, in particular finish my deal for a serious piece of canon glass to stick on there......

i will take some pics of the cam also and post them as i have already had that request several times. this footage is virtually what it looks like out of the box, barely had time to play with settings, it was about 1 a.m......i'll post some nicer looking stuff soon.... getting ready to play with gps and 60 frames today.....

Ethan, Ill wait for some more those vids are highly compressed. But thanks for posting, Ive been sitting back waiting for people to appear, so thanks for making the effort.

And of course Seth, always appreciate your thorough words.

Hey Ethan,

I'll be working on some scene files for the camera this week. I'll be matching it to our standard VariCam looks that we have done in the past. Any requests on different camera matches or specific looks?

The CAC file for your 11x47 IASE lens is not installed BTW. Let me know when you get it and I'll put that on your card as well.

Noel I can can provide you with some very short examples videos at full res if you like. It'll have to be in ProRes 422 (nice big download).
