Got My Cage! - Here's My GH2 Setup!

$200.00.

By the way, personally, I like buying gear that holds up over time. Was this worth $200.00? Yes, every penny. I will never need another one, it is that well built. (I still drive my 1995 Volvo with 200,000 miles on it) Years ago, I bought the Sennheiser ME66. It was more than some of the popular shotgun mics. But I have never needed another mic.

just testing the audio with my sennheiser mke 400. the gh1 had very poor audio with the agc. the gh2 i can manually set. with gh1 I used the olympus ls10 and recorded at 48 hz 24 bit and the sound is great. problem is always the sync, pluraleyes is not perfect. and sometimes you forget to turn on both the cam and the recorder so you miss there. so testing the gh2 audio, to me, it is superior to the ls10 eventhough its only 16 bit. i think because of the dolby process. that is one great company. they know how to create incredible sound. i think from now on i am going to lose the ls10 and leave the mic mounted on hostshoe running on all day so i never forget to turn it on (and lose audio). i had a similar set up to you but no monitor. it is bulky. i had the same audio mixer also, the sign video xlr pro. the only time i ever used it was when i had to mic two people at same time, very rare occasion. it works well. but fact is the azden cam-3 tiny mixer works about the same for 3.5 mm plug in mics anyway, even has one stereo input and two monos. it is not powered (nor is the signvideo) so need to boost. not criticizing your rig but i think the sound is so good in camera there is just no need for all that extra bulk and weight.

and tomorrow arrives the brand new rode videomic pro which has a 20db boost so should make the sound even better straight in the camera. everything i read, it sounds even better then the sennheiser.

Amazing! I have been envisioning a similar set-up in my head for use with a mono pod. marksphototools.com is precisely what I needed.
