Got a DVX100A for $2778 at Profeel with Rebate, MB, and Book!

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that it appears Profeel is buying their cameras from an authorized distributor. I purchased a DVX100A a few weeks ago from them and I received a copy of Magic Bullet for Editors and Barry's DVX book and DVD with it. Last week, I received my $300 rebate check from Panasonic. I ended up paying $2778 (after the rebate) for the camera, including shipping.

FYI, I wrote up a small review of my experience with Profeel at www.resellerratings.com/seller_info...and already had all the accessories I needed.

I just ordered a DVX100a from them today at 1:00pm PT. I didn't get my confirmation call or email yet though. Probably tomorrow. Hopefully my transaction will go through as smoothly as yours! I too emailed/called in advanced to make sure I was getting a US manu warranty and the included software and book.

I also ordered my DVX from Profeel, it just arrived today with MB and the book/dvd intact. Beautiful.
I feel bad for not supporting EVS for running an admittedly much better business, but that extra $300 can go a long way (specifically, toward an AT897 that I will be ordering from Rush). Anyway, just thought I'd mention it for those of you with cold feet.

I totally agree about the price MutePrint. And I'm so glad to hear you got your DVX100a and the included stuff. How long did it take for you to get it after you put in the order?

It was moderately quick; it shipped the day after my card was charged, then took exactly a week to arrive (but I also chose ground shipping). The only weird thing was that I didn't recieve any sort of confirmation email/receipt, I had to email them to get the tracking number.

DoubleIt - I've discovered that there's two different sites: profeel.com (cruddy looking) and profeelvideo.com (better looking). When you order from the second site you can actually choose a shipping option. That is weird.

I was planning to place my order with B&H tomorrow for ( 2 ) DVX's, for an INDIE shooting end of April. This post thread has caused me immediate pause !!! WOW ... At face value it just seems too good to be true .. it'll save me $600.00 .. Whew ..Im calling them tomorrow.. Did they hesitate at all to send the Email stating validity of Recognized Reseller ??

So MutePrint and/or Gman. How are you enjoying your DVX100A? According to UPS mine should arrive tomorrow!

Steve-
Not at all, they were very specific and upfront about it when asked. I think I must've asked 5-10 times just on the phone alone, and they repeatedly assured me that while they are not an authorized dealer, they do buy their stock from one, and that if for any reason it arrived without the software I could return it for a full refund. Needless to say I was convinced enough, and now as a result I'm $300 richer. Definitely make sure you can get written/email documentation of it first, but go for it.

Bryan- I've actually been working nonstop since it arrived and have only had time to shoot a few minutes, but just coming home and looking at it melts me every time. And MY GOD is the DVX book helping (Thanks Barry). Hopefully I'll have some test footage soon from one of the many projects I have lined up. Good luck with yours, hope it arrives soon and in proper order.

I'm now a proud DVX100a owner! Woo hoo! Came with the MB software, warrenty, and DVX book too.

However, does the AG-DVX100AP mean it's a Canadian model?

The "p" doesn't mean it's canadian, that would be a "c".
Just kidding. There is no such "canadian" model. All dvx's are suffixed with the p. My original AG-DVX100p, and the AG-DVX100Ap.
It's actually a common question ......... "they sent me a PAL version?"
When actually the pal version is the AG-DVX100A E.

P is o.k.

I still would have bought from a reputable dealer if I were you.
Warranty or not, places like EVS and B&H would take care of you if it does need some kind of repair, or have some kind of manufacturing defect.

my 2 sense.

Thanks for the bit of info Caveman. I agree that I should've bought from an authorized dealer too. I took a big risk with all that money. Luckily it paid off though. I've always bought stuff before from B&H. But I couldn't pass up this $400+ break in price.
