Got A Blank Check For Rigging...

I know there are a thousand topics on this, buy my employer literally just gave me permission to build an FS100 Rig "as neccesary, to remove all excuses for something going wrong".

Some things on my list so far were a bigger EVF- I was looking at a DP6

But for all of you more experienced than me, is there anything that immediately screams "Buy this, not that for the FS100"--- they want my list by the end of the evening, and I don't have very much time to devote to it.

When it comes to work, I'm a very meticulous, detailed director--- I like being able to have lots of control over the image- I'm sure there are some really amazing options for this camera that I've not heard of yet.

Anyone want to give me a hand?

I have DP6, but am getting a DP4 to work with a shoulder rig, lighter, you can position it closer to the center line of the camera for better balance, and the DP6 seems a little too big--in your face sort of thing-- for a shoulder mount. Also the eyecup feature of the DP4 should work better for a shoulder mount. Good to have both if you have a blank check.

visit Carlos Acosta's site, and get everything but the top handle, buy that from Caleb, then get the matching wooden hand grip from the guys in the UK.. hang a Pix240 on the back

I'd suggest the F900 viwefinder from AbleCine, but it costs more than the FS alone.. if it's truly a blank cheque that the best kit i have scoped out

go Zacuto. Best build, best warranty.

I'll second Zacuto, amazing warranty and I haven't had to replace a single
piece of their gear yet. Zacuto hasn't been a stepping stone to 'better' equipment
it's always been the best equipment. That's a big plus, I dislike having to get
equipment then find out it's just not going to cut it and invest again.

It all comes down to preference there are tons of great companies out there! A lot
do amazing work, I also highly recommend Berkey for their top plates and other
products.

If you had more time I would highly suggest hands on time if possible. It comes
down to how you feel comfortable with a rig or what makes you comfortable. Then
you just get the products that make that happen.

Before you buy anything. Check out Berkey Systems. Made right there in your country by a fine fine person and a pro when it comes to camera kit. His top plate is nothing short of fantastic and he quality of his work is world class.
IMHO

Also, what EVF are you using right now? I am a big fan of the Zacuto one. (though I have only used it and the Small DP4. The DP4 is more versatile, but the Zacuto one IMO is better as an EVF)

What is it that you are interested in doing with your FS100? Big lenses, small lenses, run & gun, Canon, Nikon, PL mounts, ext recorders, handles, hand grips, support, monitoring, batteries, cases, filters, bla, bla, bla......

It does not take long to throw a bunch of money at an erector set that is very fiddley and does not really contribute to getting your images. I am only saying, take a deep breath and think about how you really want to work. Will you go from interviews to B-roll and back to interviews again? Documentary 2-man band setup? Cinema style with sharp AC and full crew? All of the above?
