Thanks Tower and Josh. I was a little embarrssed about that post but, Ed fixed his room so the guy in the wheel chair could get through. I was over there today.
Ed sais, " Gord, you want a berr, Do ya? Hurry up, the offer is only for 5 seconds. " So I said okay. And he sais "Look, I cleaned out the pathway. You happy now? Are ya" You happy"
Hehe. I said "Yes I am.' "Thanks for the beer man." (Ed's a good guy.)
I'll try and work on that fly but I have a life too though. Thanks guys. I appreciate it.
Man I really need to learn zbrush, that stuff is looking awesome. Sorry I missed this earlier, I do a lot in Maya and am also over at CGSociety. Pertaining to your original images, I'd agree with you that the image is a bit too shiny, which is really easy to do. The other thing is the background resolution is so much lower that your model pops right out as CG. I tend to composite in AE and work with the Fast Blur and Noise plugin till I find my subject fits in. Last, the shadow.
One thing I spent a lot of time recently with is Ambient Occlusion. It's not easy to setup in my opinion with Maya, but once you do, the quality of shadow results on objects like this will be FANTASTIC.
Yeah. I think you nailed a lot of good things there. A lot of very good points And I'd be more than happy top take this up in as much detail as they want.
The background res this was due to the free hdrI's I had available.
That part of that reason. Hey man, Rick, we'll chat. I see you around all the time.
Sounds good! This last year I've been trying to kick up my game with our 'Modern War Gear Solid' YouTube series where I've done LOTS of compositing/3D modeling/motion tracking/etc. With every scene I do, I always want to go back to an older one and tweak it with some new thing I figured out!
So here's an update.I turned on the computer Sat.. morning and toasted everything in it. Hard drive, power supply and motherboard. So, my first thought of the day waa "I think God is trying to tell me something. " -> I(eventuallly got on the phone with my Nephew and he's giving me his karatae chopped lap top. It's a work of art for a university student I'll tell ya.
I get it in about 2 weeks. I gotta write a few lines of code for people too. And then I'm on the road again for I think awhile. I'd throw in a beer smiley but I don't know how to on a laptop. LOl.
Well it's been about 8 months without a PC but I just picked up a smokin' new system. I'll be officially online in May and will be back at 3D after a few software updates. Mid or late May or so. I want to finish that fly darnit!
How's everyone else doing? Seems I've missed a lot of posts.
You? Frustrated? No way man. Not with your arsenal you aren't. Or at least I hope not, lol. I can help you a little bit with compositing if you can set me up with a nice sniper rifle with night vision capability. (illegal up here in Chinada). haha. wink wink.
I'm getting back into it after a long break. I'm officially back and online later today.
I just wanted to post this to let some people know that I'm still going to try and finish it.
I did a bit of work on the legs and belly. Base mesh. They are not finished yet, no sculpting yet. No sculpting on the thorax or abs yet. It's missing a few parts that I don't need for base meshing.
So, I'm not really looking for feedback on this. Again, I just wanted to mention that I'm getting back at it.
I'll try and refrain from posting too many irrelevant wips like this one.
