GoPro new firmware!

Cool but after watching all the videos there is nothing I want :(

The live view is cool but I'll never use that.
The one touch mode might be ok but I change resolution a lot (R5 to R3) and one touch mode would make that even more of a chore.

I was hoping for some improvments to the codec or something. Sometimes my GoPro creates these vertial lines for no reason.

But the feature I wanted the most was a way to tell how much space I have left on my card! I really don't want to buy a laptop, it's bad enough that I can't live without my Iphone for 2 hours.
 
IMO this is by far the best unit on the market when it comes to performance vs price vs portability. Any unit with a cable is a major pain to deal with as far as POV shots. I think live monitoring option is a major improvement.
You have to realize what this unit is, understand how it shoots and it can produce other wise unobtainable footage. I transcode this later on to XDCAM EX and it pretty much matches EX1 or HM100 spot on.
 
Thanks so much for posting this. I've been waiting for the firmware update as there's a major problem with SD cards, especially 16 gig ones and they recommend only buying a certain brand. I do really really like the camera but their customer service is abysmal. Takes them forever to get back to you and the camera I first got had dead pixels in it and they tried to say that was normal and within the expectations and tollerances. Took me 2 weeks of hasseling them before they took it back and then another month to get the camera back.

Sometimes having a good product is awesome, but it's nice when it comes with good service too.
 
I like the way they added live view but now this means I need to buy the new skeleton housing :-\

anybody know whats the cheapest mini monitor you can get to use with the GoPro? Nothing fancy just to frame the shot :)
