Just picked up a couple of 3+'s for some action work in snow. First shots lead us to believe they could really benefit from at least a polarizer and possibly some supplemental ND's for shallow DOF work? Quick look around turned up a whole lot of pretty garbage solutions. So far this offering http://www.snakeriverprototyping.com seems the only legit choice we've found . Anyone have input ???? Thanks.

If you can get a-hold of some Hero3 housings, the WonderPana Go system from Fotodiox works pretty well.

I'm not sure NDs will help you achieve shallow DOF. I believe the lens is a fixed f2.8. If anything the NDs will allow you to shoot at slower shutter speeds in daylight. There is a way to adjust the lens focus distance. By default the hero 3+ is not set to infinity. if you want to achieve shallower DOF then you can focus even closer to the subject. This is not really easy to do on the fly of course.

WonderPana filters are very good, however, I believe the one they make for the gopro is for the hero 3 not hero 3+. Keep in mind that using a polorizer on a wide angle lens such as the gopro will polorize the sky unevenly since polarization varies depending on the angle of the sun.

The GoPros inherently have a lot of noise reduction burned into the image. If you shoot Protune and camera RAW WB remember that everything is going to look flat since its meant to be Color Corrected.

Lastly, make sure to use the recommended MicroSD cards in order to achieve 45Mb/s bitrate. If you don't use a recommended card the gopro will most likely revert tot 35Mb/s even if the card can handle it.

The Hero3+ will work with the WonderPana Go system, you just have to put it in a Hero3 housing, which GoPro sells as a separate accessory. For my money, the Hero3 housing is better than the Hero3+ housing anyway. It leaves more room between the camera and the housing, which makes for better shock absorption.
