Google Earth

This reminds of when Google threw their special employee picnic at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk 2 months ago. There was like probably several hundren of them all having fun, eating and trying to play volleyball. Funny stuff! I was also suprised to see 70% of the Google employees were Asian. Man that's pretty scary! I must have at least a cousin that worked there. :)

Is great if you live in New York or London, but further out it is crap. My whole town is about 3 pixels!

I'll stick with taping my atlas on the wall and walking towards it... not quite such a novelty though!

Got it to work on my PC laptop BTW. Damn this discrimination!

I've been able to Mark out all my secret agent camping spots across Canada(kayak access only).

I could also see my kids trampoline in the backyard...

Would be really cool to have a world wide real time weather update, and cloud formations.

Just an FYI, the app has been around for atleast 2 years, Google bought out a software that was called KeyHole, forget what the company was.

Of course in Google fashion they made it 100x better (even removed a crappy watermark).

For Mac users, to get a sample of what us PC users get to enjoy. Goto maps.google.com, find a street and click the "satellite" or "hybrid" button at the top.

duh. been around for awhile. The app is cooler though.

For that real time weather you can actually do it.

..In google earth, one of the options you can turn on is custom layers, that cna include custom images... these can be an local image, or a URL.
I just stuck in teh URL for latest weathermaps: www.somesite.com/weather/satellite/latest.jpg
And then overlayed it in teh right spot.. It works great!
