I have a kit on order.

I have used these units on two occasions. A 3 light kit. I was very impressed with the bang for the buck you get. The second time I used them, two of the lights had a noticable flicker.. The owner bought them last fall around the holidays.
I too am going to order a set, but I was told by the company, that they are back ordered till May. One of the reasons they are back ordered is the fact that they are fixing this problem with the built in ballast. I'd say they are equivalent to about a 700-800 watt tungsten fixture. This was using the rather smallish, softbox.

I checked out the Arri D1 and found out that they require 220V. I am new in this. But is this common? Futhermore, Do they consume lot of electricity? Would smaller Kino kit 110v work out?

All of the Arri kits are available in both 120v and 220v. You just need to look a for them. At B&H the 120v D1 is $1789,95 and the 220v is $1937.95

Jeffy,

Chimera, but if you're on a budget check out Photoflex, Redwing and a few others listed on B&H. I use a Chimera for video work and have a couple of Photoflex's for my still lighting strobes. For the Tota you need to get the speed ring adapter.

The Chimeras are lighter and more compact when rolled up. THe Photoflexes aluminum stays are beefy- a little too beefy and they make mounting the box onto the ring more of a challenge due to the tension. The Photoflex NXT series is nice.
