Good DVX100A starter kit?

Hi folks - I'm new to this forum, but have been reading it off and on for a couple of weeks now, and have enjoyed all of the discussions I've seen -- so I finally registered.

Anyway I have a quick question for you folks. I'm sure this has been asked many times before, but.... I'm considering getting a dvx100a starter kit consisting of:

1. dvx100a
2. 4-year Mack warranty
3. Petrol PCUB-1 softcase
4. 72mm UV filter
5. A few Panny MQ tapes (which ones are dry-lube - MQ or PQ?)
6. Extra battery (probably the 3500mAh advertised on this site)

Have been shooting for many years with cheaper cameras, so I've already got a Bogen tripod & 501 head, and a few filters (ND, ND-grad, etc). But this forum is starting to sway me towards the dvx!

Any comments/recommendations on equipment list above?

Thanks,
AJ

I would say its a good choice for a starter kit,
maybe you should consider a hardcase (Pelican is recommended) as it better protects the DVX when
travelling.
I usually have it in the Pelican during travelling/transportation and use a softbag when carrying it around at the shooting site.

The MQs are the dry lube tapes, they are the "right" ones.

what type of shooting r u doing? You may need some mics in a basic kit.

The good thing is, there will always be more accessories to get...cha-ching!! :o

Joachim - thanks for the tip on the Pelican case - yeah I'll consider getting one when I'm ready to travel with dvx. And I appreciate the dry-lube info - sounds like MQ is the way to go, though I've heard that they've started to use the same dry lube on the PQ tapes as well...

TuffGong - shooting right now is mostly little independent drama and/or music video type stuff. Maybe will eventually get some professional gigs, but just an expensive hobby right now. Regarding mics - I recently bought an Audio Technica AT-897 (it's sort of like AT's version of the ME66). Don't know how well it'll work on the DVX, but it sounds quite good (on a boom) with the Sony TRV900 (via Beachtek) - far better than the old Calrad 10-10 I was using (although that was surprisingly good for a cheap shotgun mic!).

Thanks,
-AJ
