Good DVD printer?

Looking for a good printer that can do the everyday jobs of document printing as well as provide solid prints on DVDs and BluRays, I know epson has great color, anyone have a suggestion?
thanks!

I am using the Epson Artisan 810 all-in-one. I bought it after looking for a DVD printer myself, and found a great deal at St***es office supply where it was on sale for 179 and they were offering a $50 rebate on trading any printer in, so my total price was $129.

The 810 is a relatively beefy printer and I expect decent service life out of it, the DVDs it prints are great.

I gave up on the Epson type printers (paper printers kludged for printing on round discs.)

I really like my Dymo DiscPainter. And you can get ink refill kits for them.

The Artisans that have been mentioned have an actual CD tray that you use to print to. This seems far better than the old-style "add on to paper tray" method.

Yeah, all the Epson (and Canon and HP) printers do. But it doesn't change the fact that it is an added-on kludge to what was originally something made to print on slices of paper. I gave up on them when the tray would no longer feed reliably.

Besides being a fraction of the size of any paper printer, the Dymo DiscPainter is also MUCH FASTER than any of those paper printer kludges. I can print a full-bleed color label on a disk faster than I can burn it. Not even in the same league with the paper printer kludges.

I use an older Epson R220 (printing onto silver inkjet printable media, looks quite nice).

For $5 on eBay, I bought a new CD/DVD tray that has integrated tabs on the end instead of the little clear plastic thing Epson use to have on the end of the tray. All failed tray feeds ended immediately.

A full DVD disc takes a good while to burn, maybe 15 minutes at 8x. Printing for me on this old thing takes about 3-4 minutes for full color full coverage.

Haven't tried the Canons.

Never tried the Dymo, though it looks interesting. The Epsons do print with very good quality as long as the heads are clean and you use the proper print settings.

I've had the Dymo Discpainter. It's great... but the ink costs... Ouf! That discouraged me. So I sold it and got an Artisan 800 from Epson instead. It's low cost, cheap.... but not without it's hitches. Sometimes the printer just craps out, and it's a real time waster to get it back up and running smoothly. If I ever need to print and duplicate a high volume of DVDs, I might consider a Bravo.

I've had an two Epson R340 in the past also. That gave me headaches often. But it worked well 90% of the time. The 10% shi*ty times always happened when I was in a rush! Murphy's Law is strongly enforced with disc printers. One of them got thrown on the cement floor by sheer frustration! It was old, and printed it's share of discs! So the poor thing had it coming! ;-) hehe
