Good DVD on Lighting

[Kugar13]

I have a few friends who want to join the ranks of my crew. Many of them don't have experience, but their heart is in the right place. I'm going to train them on everything. Best way to figure out what you're good at and interested in is to try it out, right? So, I bought the DVXuser sound dvd and loved it. Is there a good dvd on lighting? Any suggestions? I've seen a lot of them on b&hphotovideo, but not sure which is the best bang for the buck.

Thanks

Kugar13,

Have you seen the intro lighting dvd over at reelclassroom.com?

It's helped me out with a better understanding of 3 point lighting.

I liked it.

I've owned Light it Right, The Power of Lighting, DV Enlightenment and most recently, Digital Cinema Training Course (which I'm selling in the marketplace--end shameless plug).

If you can only purchase one, or are on a budget, I would suggest Light it Right; it teaches you the basics very concisely and also goes into the artistic aspects of lighting. Plus, it contains a few, very helpful, and practical tips.

It's the one by Victor Milt. Definitely a great deal for $30 bucks from dlang.

My bad...I actually have light like a pro by Jerry Day...Don't I feel sillyrogar-Dum(DBG): I'm gonna go change that in the Marketplace.

Try these from Walter Graff - they have a bit of theory in them as far as looking at light and how it works.

Ive taken the class and it dvd is pretty close to what the seminar offered. I would just get the volume 2 since it does repeat most of volume 1 in the second dvd.

DV Enlightenment is great. Short, to the point, and filled with lots of helpful tips.
