Good Deck?

Dboz,
The JVC deck sucks. A station I do some work for had one for a bit. It jsut fell apart on them. It's not worth it.

Get a DSR-11 (or 25/45 if you can afford it) - They will also give you Full size tapes and DVCAM capabileties.

Well I'm looking for a deck thats less than a $1,000...i dont wanna go too crazy with the formats...all i need Mini DV..I probably wont need DVCAM.

I also have another VCR and DVD combo...its got a Firewire INPUT Only.

So actually...Maybe jus Mini DV tapes only...and VHS can go on the other set.

You do know that VCR means Video Cassete Recorder, right? What you probably meant was VHS

Not sure why you'd want VHS these days, but I have one of those JVC decks (for it's MiniDV part only) and it works just fine.

Sometimes I use my jvc mini dv camcorder to play my tapes through for capture, just to save wear on the DVX. If an inexpensive camcorder can be used to play back tapes from then why can't they make an inexpensive player just for capturing purposes? And if they do, then I'd sure like to know what it is.

I had it's forerunner, and the DV side stopped working right after the warranty ran out.

Agree with Miko. Would go with the DSR-11 (like I also did) or go for a mini-DV cam if you can't afford that.
