Good bye to 600MHz for wireless mics

I have a number of units affected and I picked them up for very little. I don't use them a lot and I'm in a pretty low RF density city now so I'm sticking with them. I have at least one that is not in the 600 band and I have a couple of the not great but Ok for some things 2.4GHz units and that will probably cover things. The affected units are Lectros and for about 1/2 the new price I can have them switched to legal freq.'s. But with a few years to go I won't make that move unless I end up using them a LOT more than I do now.

I also don't have a lot of confidence that any bands are "safe". The government has a long history of treating the airwaves as a private moneymaking resource at the cost of citizen's usage. That is a very nonpartisan issue that goes back to the beginning of commercial radio. Armature radio folks have been fighting this battle for close to 100 years now so...

With the current head of the FCC??????? Though I suspect they have sold off enough for awhile. A possible future upside is that as things move digital the VHF bands may get clear enough that they are usable again. The downside is antenna's need to be longer, but there may be a technology fix. Certainly digital hybrid VHF would cure many of the old issues with VHF so?

And commercial folks don't seem very interested so it may be a safer place for wireless companies to explore.
