Good Bad Movies

Weird Science. What a mess of a movie, but John Hughes had something in the eighties that just spoke to me as a teen. Its no Sixteen Candles, but I still like it to this day. Bill Paxton is classic as Chet.

I liked it very much...

Matt

PS. Of course I like Il Postino better, which is what I actually sent my ex out to rent when she came back with this instead..... Still, I really liked it.

I FREAKING LOVED Killer Clowns From Outerspace, as well as Killer Snowmen From Outerspace. Both Intensely Beautiful Films, truly masterpieces in thier time.

The best movie ever made--"The Gods Must Be Crazy".

I also love "Mars Attacks". Dot dot dot, dot dot DOT dot dot.

The John Carpenter thread made me remember the best worst movie of all time. They live! So many great things about this movie. The bad acting from Roddy Piper, Quite possibly the longest fight scene in cinematic history, The memorable lines. With dialogue like, "You look like your face fell in the cheese dip back in 1956" how can you not love this movie?

"I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubble gum"

seriously, I think we could start a thread simply devoted to best "They Live" quotes. There is some wonderfully ridiculous dialogue in that movie.

What about Evil Dead 1, Evil Dead 2, & Army of Darkness?

Personally I am a huge Evil Dead fan, but honestly, they are pretty bad films, but brilliant in their own regard. I love these, and for some reason end up owning six different DVDs of the same freaking movies.

Killer... Klowns... From... Outer... Space...

As far as Starship Troopers goes, I actually think it's a well made movie. Seriously! The movie is a satire of Right Wing politics and actually pokes fun at the original source novel as Heinlein was a well known Rightest. The genius of the film I think is that it's a satire, but it doesn't let you know it's one. If you just take the film for face value, you symphathize with the humans when in reality it's a totalitarian facist government you're rooting for (not that the Bugs are any better) but if you look past the explosions and "cool **** blowing up" there's the most hilarious parody of Triumph of the Will in there.

At tthe end of the day; I'm a movie whore.

It's not that the movie is all bad.... I just can't stand [to a degree of anger] plots that have one, yes 1, scary, bad dude that oppresses everyone else.

I'm sorry, but taking him out would be pretty easy - Then lunch, rest of the day open....

Okay, EA you got me. It looks like you've done your homework. Starship Troopers was not a badly made movie. I actually do love it. As I said, I watch it anytime it comes on TV. But I can't help but finding myself laughing at certain parts. You've got to admit there is some pretty cheesy acting at times in the movie. (i.e. Dizzy's death scene, or pretty much anytime Casper Van Dien opens his mouth).
