Good Bad Movies

We all have these movies that we love and they are just bad films. We can defend them until we are blue in the face, but these are just bad films. I'm curious what everyone's favorite bad films are. My top five:

1. The Doom Generation
2. Team America
3. Basketball
4. Starship Troopers
5. Mallrats

I hate to admit it, but I have to agree with you on Starship Troopers. As corny as it may be I'll watch it anytime it comes on TV.

"Under Siege." I don't know why, but I'm mesmerized by it.

I'd quibble with 4 and 5 on your list being "bad," though. Heck, ST got an Oscar nomination or two.

I always thought Starship troopers was cool; never considered it a bad film; just a SciFi/Escapist/Adventure. The filmmakers knew what they were doing and I think suceeded.

The Fog. ONe cool bad film.

Starship Troopers bad? Under Siege?

And I thought I liked them because they were good :undecided

I guess Waterworld and Postman would go onto the same list then.

Isn't it all about escapism? Ability to take a trip to some different world and experience adventures you would never be able to, in your everyday life, alongside the onscreen heroes... even if only in your mind, even if just for a mere 2 hours time those pictures are running in front of your eyes?
And those do it for me (not Under Siege... that's just a damn good action film, like every other of Seagal's first 5 or so flicks)

Plan 9 from Outerspace...

By far, the worst movie ever made. It's so bad that it's funny....

Some of my guilty pleasures, in no particular order:

-Road House (took a date to it, she hated it, but I loved Sam Elliot's character)
-The Green Slime (fond memories from childhood & late night TV reruns)
-Mckenna's Gold (got me interested in VFX as a boy, love the title song)
-The Ten Commandments (ditto the above, it's world's biggest school play)
-The Last Dragon ("The Shogun of Harlem", yeah! And Vanity 6)

I'm sure there's many more if I thought about it...

"The Postman" got ripped, but it's NOT bad.

The novel the movie is based on is quite good. Check it out, by David Brin. Worthy, in fact, of another film attempt without the vanity of a "megastar" to muck it up. I did like the Tom Petty cameo in the film, but hey, I like Tom Petty.

Starship Troopers I really enjoyed...like John said they did what they set out to do with this one.

Mallrats is funny stuff. I'm far from a KevinSmithphile, but this is the film of his that I've always been surprised doesn't get more attention paid to it.

It's a good book -- in fact, I read it over a single weekend. A lot more sci-fi than the movie, too.

John Carpenters The Fog/Ghosts Of Mars/Escape From New York/Escape From L.A.
Pretty much any John Carpenter Film aside from a few. My favorite of his is The Thing, i think its one of the best films ever but ill watch anything of his, even if it sucks im stuck with it because i love his filming so much.
