Good Audio Interface for SD 302

What would be a good audio interface for connecting my SD 302 to my laptop. Just want the purest uncolored signal from the SD 302 that I can get into the laptop.

I'm confused about how these cheap, or not so cheap, audio interfaces affect your sound when you DON'T WANT them to affect your sound when you are just using them as an interface.

I've read multiple reviews and posts and my brain is spinning. Will any old el cheapo audio interface work just as well? Do the all bypass the internal circuitry if your using the 302's preamps?

Help.

Considering all I would like to use it for is just strictly an interface whose preamps I want to bypass, the $500 MixPre (which I considered) would be overkill. If I had the MixPre I'm not really sure there would be any point in hooking my SD 302 to my laptop.

I'm looking at using this in my office, not on location, with just one mic plugged into the SD 302 that goes into an audio interface to record voiceovers.

Anyone ever use a Mackie Onyx Satellite?

I'm thinking el cheapo interface that does not color the sound, just gets the signal from the 302 into the computer.

Look at the Echo AudioFire 2 - it's Firewire instead of USB but it does just what you're asking.

I haven't used a Satellite, but use an Onyx mixer w/the firewire option. However, my workflow is kind of opposite of what you're trying to achieve. I connect the mics to the Onyx, then feed the SD 302 with a line from the main mix, which gets fed to the camera. I record to a MacBook Pro via firewire. If the Satellite has the same preamps as the Onyx line, it should produce some nice results.
