hey, during my Internet travels, ive encountered a mild-medium pop up problem. who knows, maybe its a virus. can anyone suggest a top notch reputable antivirus software I can go and download to clean my laptop up?

Thanks.

AVG Free v7.5 works well for me. Ad Aware is also free and pulls out the regular tracking cookies as well as more serious spyware.
I bought Spyware Doctor to remove some really pesky stuff (it found 30+ files that the others had missed), but it's a real slug on startup, taking 2-3 minutes to load it's data files on W2k.
Hope this helps

Go with Avast, its free. All those other antivirus software programs eat up resources like you wouldnt believe. Especially MacAfee (or however you spell it.)

Thanks gang. I went ahead and downloaded a trial version of kaspersky. So, far I dig it, I like the interface and it has located a trojan virus. However, whenever I disinfect or delete it, then re-run the software it reappears. So, I might have to try a combo of some of your other suggestions.

Thanks again...If it works, I'll share the news...

Hey everybody-

Quick update: I downloaded Grisoft AVG Free Anti-Virus software as well as Grisoft AVG Free Anti-Spyware software. And its done wonders. I think everything is back to normal.

Thanks so much. If it wasn't for you guys, I might have wound up wasting my money on some crap internet download...

Thanks again!
Rick
