Not sure if this has been posted already. But this short film was shot by my two buddies on the HVX200 with the Redrock Micro Cinema Lens adapter. It was entered into the Project Direct online film festival at youtube and won 2nd place.....out of I think 1000 shorts or so. They won 5 grand and got their film put on the front page of youtube. It think it's pretty cool. The youtube version is downsampled quite a bit obviously, but the HD versions look pristine. Check it out:

My buddy Chris plays the character of "Hozay" the arms dealer. Quite a funny role!!

"We used a panasonic HVX200, shot in 1080/24p on 16gb P2 cards and a 100gb FireStore. Also we used the Redrock micro cinema lens adapter with Nikon prime lenses. All edited with Final Cut Studio."

Wicked depth of field in all shots! Great cinematography. Wow...

I'd be so scared of that girl pointing the sling shot at the camera!

Yeah I watched this on youtube and now again in HD. I think it is very pretty and good technically, but I wasn't as impressed with the story. It didn't really build for me. Obviously they were going for a certain style with the short, but I felt like a lot of the points could have been clearer or less static in style. just my opinion.

Congrats on the win though. Five grand is always good.

You only need one focus pull with a gun. Having her use two guns is too repetitive. Also we never see the girl and dog in a wide shot the entire movie when she's trying to use these various weapons. She basically just points them at the camera(out on her front yard with no fences around mind you) and we get one or two shots of the dog in a closeup. When the gun dealer pulls up and takes her picture, that would have been good a time to have a reverse shot to reveal her on the lawn with the dog and a weapon in hand. Also after she shoots the slingshot she gasps and hides a laugh. Not major, but just tiny things. She never points the weapons down, she always points right at the camera as if she is trying to kill a dog 1 mile away.

Also you cross the axis a couple times: The mirror shot with the minivan and neighbour being one that, even though I got what was going on, the effect of it kind of turns your sense of direction around. A couple more wide shots in the film would have helped overall for the flow.

Then at the end with the neighbour: having a quick reaction shot of the grand-dad would have been funny instead of cutting from door opening in wide, to CU of neighbout, back to wide of door shutting. A reverse here would help with these cuts.

Then when the girl comes to the door at the end is the other time I noticed axis crossing. He's looking left to right, and then she is looking left to right as well.

Having said all that, congrats on coming in second and it still had some funny moments.

Thought I'd try and give you some detailed critique and you can take it for what you will.

I don't think he won the 5,000....Did he?
