Golf Classic HVX Style

I had some fun at the Lone Tree Golf Classic with golfers from around the whole... City

I have never shot golf, but thought I share. I dont know if they brodcast golf in HD. But if they do I am sure it is better looking than my stuff.

haha Yea there is footage, I just need to figure out what to do with it. I shot at a 1/250 and mostly 1/500 720p/24pn - it was intresting to shoot. Stupid lil white ball and white/blue sky.

ahhh indeed P. I've shot a lot of golf in my time, sorry to say. Shot for the PGA tour and the ProAm tour. The thing that I did enjoy though is timing the shots and zooming in on the bull during putting so that the final frame is just the ball rolling towards the pin... Got pretty darn good doing that. You should give that a try next time.. it makes things a lot of fun. Of course with amateurs you get a lot of wasted shots that don't make it in.. but when you do, you have money. I once nailed a 60 foot put with such a sweet shot.. Looked cool..


Another side note to make some cash... Swing analysis... they all want it in slow mo. You could shoot it right there in HD at 60fps and give them a mini DV downconvert. Regretably.. I've done that too in the past.. Not with the HVX but might again. You can make some decent cash doing golf crab...

Justyn: What the heck have you not filmed.. Man. I am hitting up the golf course tomorrow I like easy cash... I probably wont, but great idea.

As for the shots, I did not know my boundaries so I stayed back, and was zoomed in almost at all times I loved your input and will have to put it in practice next time. If there is an next time, if there is a next time.

Well here in Florida.. you pretty much have to shoot everything that comes around. Even though I played it a lot.. Never shot Tennis... Never shot a snuff film. Never shot a musical theater play that didn't make me need to vomit... but maybe that's too personal.


The zooming ball trick is a lot of fun... You have to lead things by doing a slow creeping zoom.. anticipating the ball and then go gang busters for it... Turning your viewfinder black and white helps a lot for golf. Actually most of the guys on the turn turn their broadcast monitors negative so the ball will be black. Now that would be a trick for the HVX.

I have my EFV set to B/W. I am getting used exposing in b/w. That grass is BRIGHT, and I have to turn the zebras on grab my shot then turn off, and rinse and repeat.

I was thinking about using my Amex miles to go down to Florida. I have a close cousin, down near Palm Beach. He wants me to come down and see them. I will go and film Golf, and old people, and old people... and old pepole.. IS THERE ANYTHING else in Florida?

Me too Matty.. lol. I had a dream when I first got my cam and the whole thing was over-exposed... I'm a friggin dork.


There's quite a lot of things to shoot here actually... In WPB.. there is a really cool kite surfing school.. I've been wanting to get some of that. There's some great natural preserves down there. There's south beach for the ladies.... Lots of gators... old blue haired people. If surfs up... wpb isn't too bad for that either.


Some great sunrises down there.... Palm Trees.. Expensive houses and cars. Let me know when you come on down....
