Going To the Artic with the HVXs and Letus Extremes,

I am going to the Artic for a job with the our 2 HVX and Letus 35 extremes, with zeiss mark 1 primes, I was wondering if anyone has experience with the -24 to -40 temperature range, Any Gear recomendations or any advice or tricks up there would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone seen any heating bags for the camera's to run in?

Actually I don't have any helpful advice because I was in Green Bay last month and it was -33 (wind chill) and we canceled the outdoor shoot(!) and shot inside. It was for a consulting company (training DVD) so it didn't really matter that we moved it. We were going to shoot in the original Green Bay Packers football stadium (not Lambeau). Obviously it seems like your location is the whole point, so I'll just say good luck.

Honestly I can't imagine shooting outside when there is 60 second frostbite. It was just unbelievably COLD. -20 is do-able, but when you get below -30 it's just PAIN man.

Best wishes!

HVX's and HPX2000's shot the Iditarod last year. Don't even bother with a heating bag for the camera, it doesn't need it. We ran the cameras bare and they were just fine.

Your problems are going to be in battery life (keep your batteries warm, and take more of them than you normally would) and with your LCD panels (they'll get slow and unresponsive). Rubber-band a chemical hand-warmer to the back of your LCD to keep it up to speed.

Can't comment on the Letus in the cold, we didn't try that.
