Going to Sana Monica... need your opinion

I have a DVX100a and no lenses yet. Im going to the lake nearby, and I want to capture and film the whole trip, Knowing the lens built in is already pretty short, i want to get another lens. Should I get a telephoto lens? or a wide angle/fish eye. I can only afford one at the time before the trip. any idea on filters i should look into as well, would be helpful, and whats the proper way to film a sunrise/sunset? ive tried some times before and used the time lapse function with un satisfactory results...
 
Well only u will know what kind of lens u need for ur needs. Uve already stated that the dvx lens is pretty short...and since the stock lens is pretty wide...I'd get the telephoto. That's just me. Buy century optics. Also get a polorizing fliter which will cut down on glare from the lake and deepen the colour of the sky. Look at hoya or b+w.
 
I don't think you will really need a lens. the dvx has a pretty wide lens and just use the zoom for telephoto.
just don't shoot Auto mode when you are filming sunset.

Maybe a warming filter, and a polarizer would be good. Also if you are filming the sunset on the lake, a tiffen north star filter would look cool. Check out the tiffen filter website. It has a virtual representation of each filter. They usually run for about $110 each and like $70 for the normal warming filters or UV filters.
 
oh man !! id say travel a bit south venice beach and visit sammys if you halfe to get a new lense! there near the beach and a mile or so at least and have a good stock on hand or go out the way a bit into la ,the other sammys is a huge 3-4 story building with so much sh!t youll be like charlie and the chocalate factory for camera lovers!!
the sammys nearest miracle mile has the best costomer service and vetrans yep vetrans there the most experienced and honest i find. many many acceries for almost anything youd want! call first ok!!
if you want a new lense thats for that camera !!
other wise just shoot with what you got and it will still look great!!!
