Going to Mexico City - Airport Security?

I was just wondering if anyone has any advice about putting your camera gear and tapes through security... will it mess anything up to go through the metal detector or the X-ray machines? Any other problems that could arise?

I've never had any problems with the xray machines or anything, however, the way airports toss things around, I would be more worried about packing your stuff well enough so that nothing gets destroyed. I prefer to carry on my camera and anything of outstanding value, because you can expect the airport to open all your luggage, sort through it all and then loose it for a matter of weeks, and as much as I'd like to say I trust someone with thousands of dollars worth of sweet camera gear, I'm not willing to take any chances. Remember, the airport isn't responsible for anything they steal from you and take home to give to their kids for christmas or sell on ebay for a couple grand.
