Going into a AF100 production this weekend blind.

Today went great! The day was a lot more efficient, and we ended up shooting more footage today than the other two days combined, so I will actually have a film to show you at some point.

Top 10 notes about the AF100 and using it on my shoot:

1. The LCD is green, but completely usable. I still think it should be fixed tho.
2. The LCD is super crisp and the EVF DTL is really good.
3. I love the ability to dial in the color temp.
4. The sensor seems to be not level in the unit I used. The bubble level on my tripod is accurate but every time I tried to level it it was always off. I tried it with and with out my Zacuto baseplace so I could rule that out. I had to level by eye. This unit probably has to go back to have this fixed.
5. I miss 1 to 1 focus assist.
6. The image is beautiful when the settings are figured out.
7. I pushed the codec in a couple scenes and it held up very well. I was very surprised by that and very happy. I still haven't went over the footage with a fine tooth comb tho.
8. I LOVE THE ND WHEEL!!!
9. I lost the rubber HDSDI cap, so be careful to not loose yours.
10. It's very easy to use and intuitive.

Still frames and footage to come soon.

Saw the grabs - colours are looking good.

Another note on RED however. I shot a music video on a red MX in tokyo last week and we used CF. Three of the clips had a frame glitch and the only way we could get around it was by running it through the redrocket. On my machine using storm / redcinex / fcp L&T, storm and redcine x woud lose the preview window and would only return after restart and exports would just hang. On FC L&T, L&T would crash. Now this is a rarity and CF is being phased out at RED, but I would say I think your choice was wise considering you dont have the backend for the R3D workflow.

Well I want to add that "I perceived" red was phasing out CF, but the new scarlet stuff popping up shows the CF module - so scratch that -

Well they are not making the 64Gb CF they were planning on making. I think from what I understood is that you can get the CF still, but moving forward, it's not going to be the best method to get all the power of the higher data rates from the camera. I still think they are going to phase out the CF for the most part.
