Going handheld with a Firestore?

Today I tightly wrapped a 15" strip of double sided Velcro around the FS and the HVX handle, then stuck a one-sided strip on the battery side and a strip on the handle for added cling. It holds really well, and allows me to attach or remove the FS when desired with ease. Anybody see why this might not be a good, cheap alternative to the cage?
