Going crazy!

Ok... I'm editing a feature in Avid Xpress Pro 5.7 I think... I know, I need to upgrade to MC eventually... just getting through this project. Anyway, I'm trying to export an EDL of my full film timeline. The problem is, none of the names of the takes and clips are showing up on the EDL. I took a painstaking amount of time logging this stuff, and it never changed the metadata??? Please advise Avid guru's... please! :)

Hey Brandon, sorry but the metadata change wont be reflected in the EDL. The EDL will show the original name of the clip "02939.mxf"

Unless you consolidate the project, then I think that logged names will be shown in the EDL. (not 100% sure on that)

True - there is no tape associated with file based imports since there is... well... no tape. We are looking to have a source ID as source in an EDL that would be generated from the Avid FilmScribe but that will happen in the near future.

If you send an EDL to another system... what is the goal you are trying to achieve if there is no tape name?

man, throw that stuff on sequences per topic and lable those sequnces as such. then just pull from those sequences. you can even match the tc if needed.
