God Bless Able Cine

had a 16gig card on order at B&H for almost 2 months. Last thursday (2 business days ago), on a whim, i called Abel to see if they had any. They said no but call back in 2 hours, they were expecting a shipment. I called back and ordered one and it arrived today! woo hoo!

I love B&H. They've taken great care of me in the past. But the score right now is B&H: 2 months, Abel: 2 days.

I had the same experience. B&H - forever. Abel Cine - a week later and this is when 16GB cards were impossible to get anywhere. I'm guessing Abel has a better relationship with Panasonic.

That's funny. I just ordered mine from Abel on Thursday too. Just came in today.

I guess that I got on at the right time because it said that they were in stock when I checked.

I think more people shop at B&H across the country than at Abel so they probly have/had a bigger back log than Abel does/did.

When I was last in NY I had the opurtunity to rent the Movietube ST 35mm adapter from able for my HVX and it was bad ass. Very nice people at the ABel Cine.

Yeah Abel Cine is GREAT. I have spent more than $ 30,000 with B&H over the past 10years, but when it came time to buy my HVX200, they were out of stock (and had been for several weeks) I called Abel Cine and they had plenty of them. They also gave me free shipping (Shhhh, don't tell).

B&H has super prices but I've found their customer service lacking over the years. Abel Cine was easy to reach and a pleasure to do business with.

I must say that what you are experiencing is a personable store that does not take its business plan from the 'Wal-Mart' play book. Although there are many good things you can say about B&H, one area its seems they lack in is a personal touch. I am bias because I work in the sales area of Abel and was probably the one who fulfilled a lot of those orders. Panasonic takes very good care of us because we do a lot of volume and go to great lengths to make sure our customer is top priority. Im not saying we are the only place or that we are even that big and I dont work off commission. Your job as a prosumer is to get the best deal with the best support. I took this job because it was the first place I have ever been that someone could walk in, get a cup of coffee, play with the camera before the purchase and walk out with a high five!
God Bless Abel

Hi all:

I have bought tens of thousands of dollars of gear from Abel and hundreds of thousands of dollars of gear from B&H over the past decade.

Different places for different types of purchases

Camera - buy it from Abel. Their prices are competitive if not the rock bottom but when your camera has an issue, who is going to help you out with a rental/loaner and get your problem handled? Abel.

Battery - Check both, buy from whomever is cheaper

Tripod - Once again, I bought from Abel because they are close to me and I could try it out hands on in their showroom (I am near Burbank, although Abel is also in NYC like B&H)

P2 cards - I own four, three 8GB and one 16GB. Bought them all from Abel when NOBODY had them available. Abel has great connections with Panasonic.

When you need service, go to Abel. When you are buying a filter, go to whomever is cheaper.

Best,

Dan
